Donor Profile: Lauren Rubinson-Morris

Lauren’s relationship with Swedish began over 20 years ago when her company, Medical Express (MedEx) Ambulance Service began providing medical transportation to the hospital. As the founder and CEO of MedEx, Lauren Rubinson- Morris recounts that she was immediately impressed by how Swedish provided more than just medical services in a hospital setting; we were responsive to the needs of our diverse community and provided a wide range of services and programs to assist patients in any capacity.

Swedish’s mission to serve with excellence and kindness so aligned with her own values and work ethic that when the Foundation was established in 2006, she knew immediately that she wanted to be a founding board member and help forge a path forward for the hospital and its patients. According to Lauren, “I decided to join the board because I believe in Swedish’s mission, felt I could assist in fulfilling that mission and thought that by introducing others in the community to Swedish, it would in turn result in future donors.”

Sixteen years later, her enthusiasm and dedication for Swedish has only grown stronger as she sees many of the board-funded initiatives develop into thriving programs that help the most vulnerable in our community. Lauren notes, “I am always amazed at how Swedish identifies the needs of so many vital services. It is always a difficult decision to select which programs to support and fund, since there are so many that are beneficial to the community.”  Lauren’s enthusiasm to help goes beyond her role as volunteer board member; she is a generous and loyal donor to many of the hospital’s programs and initiatives through gifts and services. For example, MedEx is a committed partner in our Pathways program by providing critical transportation services to survivors of interpersonal abuse.  As Lauren explains, “The Pathways program provides essential services to the community for patients impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault.  As a woman-owned business, it has been my honor to partner with Swedish to provide medical transportation for this program.”

For those who would like to become involved with Swedish as a donor, volunteer or board member, Lauren advises them to visit Swedish Hospital and see for themselves. “Once they see all of the wonderful services and programs that Swedish provides for the community, and speaking with some of the hospital leadership and doctors leading such great work, I am confident that they will be convinced that their donation will be in good hands. My two decades of experience with Swedish has given me a unique perspective on what is really special about this amazing hospital.”

We at Swedish Hospital think Lauren’s pretty amazing too.
